Stans Energy – Former Rare Earth Mine – Proven Metallurgy
Overview
Stans Energy Corp. is a junior mining company focused on developing properties in Kyrgyzstan. In October 2009, Stans acquired the mining license for the former Kutessay II rare earth mine from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Natural Resources. For over 30 years, Kutessay II produced all of the rare earth metals for the former Soviet Union.
Stans Energy owns five mineral properties, and owns an option to purchase the processing facility previously used for its most advanced property, Kutessay II. Stans Energy Corp. is currently translating, editing and compiling the vast amount of Kutessay II historical data.
What We Like About Stans Energy:
- Rodney Irwin, Stans Energy Corp’s Chairman, was the former Ambassador to the Russian Federation for Canada, and currently serves as the Honorary Consul of the Kyrgyz Republic for Canada
- Kutessay II previously produced 80% of the former Soviet Union’s rare earth elements from 1960-1991
- Good infrastructure established
- Expert rare earth advisory team

Kutessay II Former REEs Open Pit Mine
Historically, Kutessay II has been a significant mine for the Soviet Union. Between 1958 and 1991 Kutessay II was a small open pit mine which yielded 22,109 tonnes of rare earth metals (REM) from 5,454,400 tonnes at what appears to be a recovered TREM grade of 0.41% at a 64.5% recovery. The mine was shut down in 1991 due to a dip in REE prices. In a 1996 estimate, the Kyrgyz State Reserve stated a remaining historical resource of 20,228,000 tonnes in the 0.22-0.30% TREM range. Using current REE oxide prices, this gives Kutessay II an estimated rock value of US approximately $100/tonne.
Stans Energy has commenced a feasibility study on restarting production at Kutessay II and a JORC resource estimate will be completed in conjunction with the feasibility study. Although no production budget or timeline has been published thus far, it is estimated that Kutessay II will need far less capital and time to reach production, when compared to other advanced heavy rare earth element properties. With its well established connections in the region, the company has goals of acquiring other rare earth projects in the former Soviet Union.

Kutessay II Facts:
- Previously produced 80% of the former Soviet Union’s REEs from 1960-1991
- Former producing REEs open-pit mine
- 30 years of proven metallurgy, with approximately 65% recovery
- Good infrastructure, rail line 43 km away, electrical power on site, and the mine is located 140 km by paved road from Kyrgyzstan’s capital city of Bishkek
- Contains all 15 REEs and formerly produced every REE at purities up to 99.99%
- Light Rare Earth Elements (LREEs) to Heavy Rare Earth Elements (HREEs) ratio of approximately 50/50
- Kutessay II concentrate was refined into 120 different REE compounds
- Abundance of qualified labour live in the area
